About CHAS
As we return to the convention scene for our ninth year, Capital Sci Fi Con has raised over £371,705.97 for CHAS!
Every penny of profit from this event goes directly to Children's Hospices Across Scotland (CHAS) to support children in Scotland living with life-shortening conditions, and their families.
For thirty years CHAS has been offering a full family support service for babies, children and young people with life-shortening conditions. This includes palliative care, family respite and support – through our hospices, homecare services and hospital presence.
We support families through the terrifying heartbreak of knowing their child may die young. With love and compassion, we offer highly personalised care in hospice, hospital and home. We make things possible so children have the freedom to be themselves, play outside, laugh, sparkle, smile, and have treasured moments of joy. We are there when needed most – in really tough days, at end of life, and after a child dies.
For more information about CHAS, you can visit the CHAS website here.
Capital Sci Fi Con is organised by a small committee of CHAS staff and volunteers who give up their time to make sure that each event is full of fun, geeky content that the whole family can enjoy.
Additionally, we have a team of 170 super fundraising volunteers we call The Causeplayers who help raise money at events throughout the year, whilst raising the profile of CHAS and Capital Sci Fi Con whilst cosplaying. Not all heroes wear capes – but some certainly do!
