Capital FAQs

We’re looking forward to seeing a brilliant array of cosplay from attendees at this year’s Capital Sci-Fi Con!

Please make sure to read the
below policies carefully if you plan to cosplay to assure that you will be allowed into the venue with your chosen costume and props.

Weapons Policy
Capital Sci Fi Con and the O2 Academy Edinburgh employ a common sense approach to cosplay weaponry at the event. Please consider your fellow attendees when choosing to bring a weapon as part of your cosplay. Items which could cause harm to attendees or the venue will not be permitted within the event. This includes, but is not exclusive to: metal blades, realistic artillery, strung bows and laser pointers.
Mandatory bag checks will be carried out upon entry to the event and the O2 reserves the right to refuse entry to a person or their props if they see fit. Please note that we cannot refund tickets for refusal of entry.
Please note that you are bringing items to the event at your own risk. If your item is deemed be a risk to the event and its attendees by security or staff, you may be required to leave the premises.

Cosplay Costume Policy
Capital Sci Fi Con is a family friendly event - please consider this when deciding on your cosplay for the event. Please note that we reserve the right to refuse entry or may ask you to leave if your costume is deemed inappropriate. Nudity and fetish attire are not permitted. Please consider the size of your costume before wearing it to the venue, as this is a high foot traffic event with busy pathways and doorways. The O2 Academy and CHAS cannot be held liable for any damage to costumes or props sustained at the event.

If you are in any doubt regarding the cosplay or weaponry guidelines please check before choosing your costume by emailing [email protected]. We want all visitors to feel comfortable and enjoy the event!
